Lesson
1
Elohim
Definition:
To be strong or be in front, which suits the power
and preeminence of God. It is in the plural form but used in the original language
with a singular verb or adjective. This indicates the idea of a plural magnitude or
majesty when used in reference to the one true God.
Meaning:
This indicates the idea of the Trinity. The plural
used with a singular verb or adjective describing God. The Hebrew language was incapable
of describing the infinite God in any other way than to use this type of structure in
reference to the God who delivered them time and time again.
Scripture Support:
Psalm 96:5
For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.
Psalm 97:7
Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of
idols: worship him, all ye gods.
Conclusion:
God needs to be sought first. He needs to be the
starting point of our decision making process. He alone is powerful enough to go before us
and show us the way we should go.
Application:
I need to put God first in my life. Whether things
are going good or bad, I need to be spending time with God. He doesn't want me to turn to
Him just when I think I need help. He wants me to put Him in charge of everything I do.
