Lesson 12

God is Righteous

Definition:

The Hebrew word from which we get righteousness can also be translated as just or justice. The fact that God is righteous points to the justice and fairness with which He judges all individuals. Righteousness again indicates being separated from wickedness. It illustrates that all God does is right whether or not we think it is right in our eyes.

Meaning:

Since this quality of God carries with it a sense of justness in judgement we can know that when we do something that God says is wrong and don't repent He will judge us the same way He would anyone else. There is no favoritism with God. Some judgments my be swift others may take a while but all are judged according to the same standard regardless of circumstances, race, creed, color, or sex.

Scripture Support:

Conclusion:

God is fair and just. His actions are righteous. There is nothing wrong in God.

Application:
